Hi, I'm Patricia, also known as Tabitabiya.

I'm French, and Tokyo has been my home for well over twenty years now—I've honestly stopped counting! When I first arrived in Japan, it wasn't the famous landmarks or the souvenirs that captured my heart. It was the extraordinary patterns I saw everywhere. The intricate motifs adorning kimonos, obi sashes and traditional textiles fascinated me. I could spend hours admiring them, discovering new details, wondering about their symbolism and dreaming of one day creating something with them.

My journey into sewing began while I was expecting my first daughter. During my pregnancy, I
finally had a little time for myself and decided to learn something with my own hands. I enrolled in
sewing lessons with a Japanese teacher, inspired by the beautiful traditional fabrics that had
already captivated me. Soon, I found myself spending countless hours teaching myself,
experimenting, practising and gradually developing my own style. It wasn’t long before vintage
kimono and obi fabrics naturally became the heart of my work.

Today, I handcraft cushion covers, bags and pouches using carefully selected vintage kimono and
obi fabrics. Every piece is chosen for the beauty of its patterns—graceful cranes, delicate flowers,
flowing streams, seasonal landscapes and geometric designs that have inspired Japanese
artisans for centuries.
To me, these textiles are much more than beautiful fabrics. They carry history, craftsmanship and
a quiet sense of harmony. Through my creations, I hope these remarkable patterns can continue
to be appreciated in everyday life, bringing a touch of Japanese beauty into your home.
