WORD OF THE YEAR 2023

A word of the year can be really useful but in recent years I found it quite stifling, stressful and a little bit annoying!
I found myself searching around for something that sounded good, that worked for my business and was always focused on growth. So I suddenly stopped choosing one. And for a while it felt great but also a little rudderless.

At the end of 2022 I was feeling sluggish, slow and unenergised (thanks Covid and the pandemic in general). So I decided, rather than wallow, I would do something about it. And that's where the word MOVE comes in.
So what does MOVE mean to me?

MOVING MY BODY

Lately I've found that my muscles and bones are feeling achy and slow. Age is creeping up on me so I want to get out more to walk, get sun on my face and watch the seasons change. To stretch in the morning so I can feel vital and energised for the day ahead. I want to continue working for as long as I can as stillness is definitely not my bag. I know that movement is money in the bank for future health, so off we go.

FINANCES

It's time to focus more on retirement (eek!). Even though I am a long way off retiring I still need to think about saving more consciously for my golden years. This means sorting out pensions, consolidating finances and thinking about future business plans. It feels a little scary, but also  super exciting!

BUSINESS

Biku is going nowhere but I feel like an inkling of change on the horizon. Not really sure what, how or when, but something is brewing. I'm hoping that my walking sessions will help clear the head and make some creative decisions.

MINDSET AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH

Emotionally, the pandemic has taken a lot out of us hasn't it?

I lost my Dad to cancer in 2021, something I haven't talked about publicly really. But I'm healing and now feeling stronger to talk about it. I put his photo up in my studio while I was deep-cleaning and it felt really hard but necessary (already 'moving'). I think my dad would be pleased with my word of the year.

CREATIVITY

Creativity for the sake of it has been lost to me in recent years. Everything I loved to do turned into a work-related pursuit. Not great for your brain! I'm reclaiming my craft time in the evenings rather than watching TV so I can take on my own personal projects. I do have a massive project in mind for 2023 which has little to nothing to do with my business. More about that coming soon.
